At the end of July, Rebecca Minkoff opened up her studio to support professional women. Hosted by Ladies of New York City, Rebecca spoke about her whirlwind start in fashion as well as giving back, before opening up the floor for a little Q&A.

Rebecca who got her start working with designer Craig Taylor before branching out and creating her own collection. She got her taste of fame after creating an I love NY t-shirt which was worn by Jenna Elfman of Dharma and Greg fame. Elfman later reached out and asked if Rebecca made any bags. Deciding this could be her big break, Rebecca lied and told the actress “of course.” Using the last of her savings, Rebecca ran off to create her first purse. It was in that moment that the Rebecca Minkoff’s handbag collection was born.

After the event, guests were encouraged to enjoy drinks and mini treats while shopping the collection of leather purses. In attendance was Melyssa Ford of Bravo’s Blood Sweat and Heels and Edge Fashion Group’s Nubeia Holland.
