Wimbledon and Lanson The Perfect MATCH
Since 1877, Wimbledon has become synonymous with British summertime. The championship match attracts visitors and tennis lovers from all over the world to see tennis greats compete for the coveted Wimbledon Championship title on the only all grass courts still used today.
Traditional tennis favorites, like strawberries and cream, are served alongside a little bit of luxury. It’s that pairing of tradition and grandeur that makes Wimbledon so great! Lanson Champagne has cornered the market of Wimbledon with their exclusive partnership as the official champagne of the tennis championships for the past 15 years. During the 2 week event over 25,000 bottles of Lanson Champagne were consumed by thirsty patrons.
To really experience the best Wimbledon has to offer we visited the Lanson Champagne Chalet to get the scoop on their bubbly partnership with the All English Tennis Club. For the past 39 years, Lanson has partnered with Wimbledon bringing a crisp and delicious flavor to the tournament. The small family run company produces quality champagne that’s not overly sweet or dry. This year their Black Label and Brut Rosé were dressed in their tennis best sporting neoprene “tennis shirt” jackets in navy and pink. These neoprene jackets help keep your bubbly cool for up to an hour, perfect for a warm day. While Lanson Rose Label Brut Rosé NV is the UK’s number one Brut Rosé Champagne according to Neilsen studies, the limited edition Cuveé Lanson White Label Sec NV bottle was the real star of the day. The white bottle adorned with the AETC’s logo and colors looked great and tasted even better. As the first champagne to be designed for experimenting with aromas this light and refreshing champagne pairs well with orange, lemon, mint or even strawberries.
Paul Beavis, Managing Director of Champagne Lanson International explained,“We know that once our unique style of Champagne is tried by customers, they become advocates… Lanson continues to focus on its mouth-watering taste which makes it the perfect anytime aperitif.”
The Chalet is the perfect stop to rest between games and enjoy a refreshing glass of Lanson. From their bathtub filled with tennis balls (which has gained them much popularity with people passing by and Lanson Chalet guests) to their beautiful tables decorated with bottles of champagne in their cute polo shirts with tennis ball zippers. The Chalet serves lunch, and later on, a traditional (boozy) English afternoon tea. Sunscreen, pink sunglasses and water are also provided to guests to keep them safe and happy for a day in the sun. One of the best (and most talked about) perks about visiting the lounge is the mini tennis ball themed bottles of Lanson which are gifted to patrons to indulge with while watching Andy Murray and Serena Williams serve up championships.
As the thirsty girls seated in front of us can tell you, “Tennis really needs champagne.” They couldn’t have said it any better, Wimbledon and Lanson certainly equal the perfect start to summer!
