Dark and Sexy at Michael Costello NYFW Fall/Winter 2015
By: Janine Silver
Inspired by “Japanese minimalism, Parisian sparkle and London layers,” Michael Costello’s Autumn Winter 2015 collection was dark, sexy and very sheer. Costello sent a collection of lace jumpsuits, plunging necklines, and strategically placed cutouts down the runway.
The “Project Runway” finalist kept the color palette simple, focusing instead on textures and lines. Designed to accent the female figure, the collection showed a lot of skin and a few exaggerated shoulders.
Stella Hues footwear upped the sex appeal with sky high lace up gladiator boots and inky black sandals to complement those hip bone barring slits.
The dark collection progressed into shimmering column gowns in silvers and greys, perfect for a late night fête. The sparkly dresses still kept to the minimalist style, but added something fresh and exciting to the elegant parade of black.
This collection of thigh high slits, sparkle and lace ensures that Costello’s silhouettes are bound to show up on a few Hollywood red carpets this season. We can’t wait to see which starlet decides to don one of these dangerously barely-there frocks.
